In 2017, the Construction Manpower Development Foundation (CMDF), one the implementing boards of CIAP forged a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Cebu Technological University (CTU) and DTI Region 7. The CMDF-CTU Regional Training and Assessment Center aimed at providing skills training on Civil Works in the Visayas region in response to the Build Build Build Program of Pres. Duterte. The target participants are residents within the communities near CTU-Pinamungahan campus in Cebu. CMDF will provide the equipment and tools to CTU to add to its existing capacity in conducting construction related training specifically on Civil Works and Heavy Equipment Operation. Aside from the additional equipment, CMDF will also capacitate the present trainers of CTU as part of its commitment.
To date, The DTI CMDF-CTU partnership has produced 203 graduates in 5 courses namely: Hydraulic Excavator NC II - 61; Driving NC II - 30; SMAW NC II - 27; Scaffold Erection NC ll - 69; Carpentry NC II – 14 and Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II- 2. For this year, new courses on Tile Setting, Bulldozer and Motor Grader Operation will be added to the existing offering the Center. The graduates who will be assessed by TESDA will be farmed out to different construction firms in Visayas. The closing ceremony for the second batch of trainees will be on March 2, 2019.
